WW2 Jeep MB/GPW/G503 Gas Can Bracket 6566675 Jerry Can Bracket 2-Pcs Lot-B

Description

This auction is for one lot of two identical authentic World War Two era gas can or Jerry can
brackets that went to a Willys MB, Ford GPW or G503 Jeep. The steel parts measure 14-1/2"
wide by 7" deep by 6" high, and are made of 0.080" thick steel. The official designation was
"BRACKET LIQUID CONTAINER, 2590-00-473-6331 ORDNANCE Part no. 6566675", and
was also called "5-gallon liquid container bracket" or "Spare gas can support." The brackets
have much of the original paint still intact and are both stamped with the number "6566675" on
the left side front. There are also small diamond-shaped stampings with a letter on the inside back,
which are hard to make out through the painted finish. The brackets are in structurally-sound
condition, and all of the welds are intact. They have some surface rust on the inside and outside
bottoms, but these original period brackets are usually sandblasted and repainted for use on vintage
WW2 era Jeeps. The auction is one price for the pair of brackets.
