USMC Brass Smoking Lamp 105mm Artillery Cartridge EGA Marine Corps Emblem

THE SMOKING LAMP IS LIGHTED. Get ready for the Marine Corps Ball on 10 November. You are bidding on a Smoking lamp that would look great in a bar or used at a USMC Mess Night. Smoking lamps were originally used in ships to indicate when Sailors and Marines could smoke. User would hold the handle and light cigar with the candle. This lamp is made from a 105mm Artillery Casing and 8 inches tall. The candle holder in the center is made from a 20mm brass cartridge case. The handle is made of two 50 Cal Cartridges and a 20mm Cartridge with a projectile. The 20mm Projectile was empty when made. Two holes are drilled in each side to verify this. The 20mm projectile is removable. If the user was concerned this piece could be lost it could be glued in. I wanted the buyer to be able to inspect it and see that it is empty. The lamp is decorated with two WW2 USMC collar emblems and a large USMC cover emblem at the top. The emblems can be removed  to clean.  There are various scratches, buffing marks and other small dents on the lamp along with the smell of brasso. Needs some elbow grease to get super shiny. I think it looks good as is.  Smoking lamps such as these have been made by Marines for a Mess Night. Each is different and have become rare. The purpose of Marine Corps Mess Night is to rememeber Marines who came before. It also gives Marines a chance as a band of brothers to socialize with one another. The mess night is nomally a formal gathering. During the mess night, immediately after the first toast, the President of the Mess will call for the smoking lamp to be lighted.
