    on both sides.
    These items were found at a recent estate offering for a sailor who
    served in World War II
    on this ship.
    Everything in the photos is included.

    The
    U.S.S. Helm (DD388)
    was a Bagley-class destroyer in the U.S. Navy
    during World War II. She was named for Rear Admiral James Meredith Helm.
    The Helm received 11 battle stars for her WWII service in the Pacific.
    She saw service at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 and was able to leave safely
    with only minor damage.
    Launched May 27, 1937. She was decommissioned June 26, 1946
