Stunning and rare example.
Walnut
stock has the proper SA/NFR stamp.  Has the proper cut in the rifle where the barrel and the action bed.  Has the proper circled "P" proof mark at the grip, with serifs.  This rifle has the proper .437" Department Acceptance Stamp ordnance wheel next to the cartouche, as well as the proper .188" smaller Ordnance Wheel stamped under the bottom of the pistol grip.

period for use in WWII as well as the Korean conflict

between November, 1944 and the end of WWII (November, 1945).  This stock will fit any M1 Garand, but was proper for Springfield rifles with a serial number between 3,272,000 and 3,888,081.
The stock has a repair behind the shoulder, repaired
a very long time ago, before decommissioning.
See photos.  Repair is firm, complete, without movement and is decades old.
The rifle also have a rack number stamped on the bottom of the butt, the significance of which is that the rifle would have been more easily tracked while on the rack (rather than via the serial number).  Stamped and painted rack numbers are common to find on M1 Garand rifles.
