    Description

    As found: Rare Antique 19th Century Native American carved Birch Bark Snuff/Tobacco Box. Measures 2 & 3/4 inches across. Typical early construction seen in other 18th and 19th century snuff/tobacco boxes made by indigenous peoples of northeastern North America. Well made, and of some unknown great age, it looks as if it were never used. The branch used to carve this object must have been carefully chosen, as it flares out on either end, making the lid a natural fit by only pressure. One small age split to the solid bark case, otherwise in excellent condition. Old silk ribbon for a pull handle.
