    Description

This postcard with its undivided back features a chimpanzee, identified as Harrigan, dressed in men's clothing.  The card was put out by the Edwards' Animal Show, a traveling circus at the turn of the 20th century.
According to an article in the Journal of Mammology for May, 1924, by a man who worked at the animal show between 1907 and 1912,
the chimpanzees were treated as part of the family.  The card has not been sent and is
in good condition with wear to corners and edges.  Please see our current and future auctions for more interesting postcards and photos. We do combine shipping.  Recently we have experienced significant delays in delivery times through the US Postal Service.  As most of you are aware, recent changes in Postal Service operations have caused these delays.  Please be patient, but do not hesitate to contact us if your postcard does not arrive in a reasonable amount of time.
