Lot 2 Handwritten Diaries
World War II
Two handwritten journals, each 8 by 5
inches, bound in brown cloth. Handwritten in ink.
First volume has "Sgt. Oscar Shaw, Jr. 95th
Bomb Squadron" written inside the front cover;
the handwriting of the entries matches this, so
we are assuming he was the writer. The second
volume has another name in pencil, "Pfc.
A. L. Scotese of NY, NY" but that's it
in that writing.
Mostly about day to day stuff, like the weather,
etc. He was stationed in Dijon, France,
and seems to have gone the the movies a lot!
Some location descriptions. In vol. I, he
mentions going to see the movie "Rhapsody
in Blue" which came out in 1945. Lovely handwriting,
slanted and a bit tough to read. Second volume
has many empty pages, but contains a listing
of 28 squadron members in pencil in the back. Air Force.
Condition:
Sold AS IS in good condition.
Overall age-toning; vol. II has rubbing to
covers and damage to spine. See photos.
