    Up for sale is an original New York Newspaper, magazine publication, the Vanity Fair dated Nov. 8, 1862. On the front cover is picture depicting Copperhead leader, and Ohio Politician Clement Laird Vallandigham titled "OUT IN THE COLD" The 12 page publication covers several other articles pertaining to events during the Civil War. The paper is in overall good condition with no tears or rips, and minimal age staining. It measures approx. 11" x 9" and would be perfect for framing in your political collection.

    Copperhead
    faction of anti-war
    Democrats
    during the
    American Civil War
    . He served two terms for
    Ohio's 3rd congressional district
    in the
    United States House of Representatives
    . In 1863, he was convicted at an Army court martial of opposing the war, and exiled to the Confederacy. He ran for governor of Ohio in 1863 from exile in Canada, but was defeated. Vallandigham died in 1871 in
    Lebanon, Ohio
    , after accidentally shooting himself in the abdomen with a pistol, while representing a defendant in a murder case for killing a man in a barroom brawl in
    Hamilton
    .
