    Description

Deluxe Model 986240 will fit 1950 car also.  Very clean set not difficult to restore.
Complete set with speaker and power supply, both from 1949 car.
Original electromagnetic speaker, reconed by Jackson Speaker Service;  always excellent workmanship.  All electrolytic and wax/paper condensers replaced with new high voltage, high quality equivalents.  All tubes tested on military Hickok TV-7 B/U reconditioned tester.  Weak tubes replaced with NOS or strong-testing used ones.
All controls cleaned, lubed, and adjusted to work properly.  Station selector pushbuttons work as they should.  Dial lamp works off feed from headlight dimmer.  I usually rebuild power supply with new solid state vibrator, but I have not been able to obtain them for some time now, so I put in electronically cleaned mechanical vibrator.  I will warranty the tubes and vibrator for 60 days.
Radio operates on 6 volts negative ground as original.  If your car was changed to 12 volts, a converter is available.  Radio has been thoroughly tested and plays loud and clear with good sound quality.  I know how it should work, as I was around when these things were in regular use.  I have done all the work and am f
ormer U.S. Army Signal Corps tech.  I was 26L, tactical microwave radio station master in the 1970s.
This set has original pushbuttons and knobs.  Set-screw outer knobs were unique to 1949 set.  The buttons have "patina" but are solid and sound. (I like original parts!)
No returns due to vintage electronics.  However, if there is a problem after proper installation, we are here to help!  Contact us immediately; issues are usually easily resolved.  We want satisfied buyers!  Radio will be properly packed.  Service literature included.

About Me:  I have been passionate about radio since I knew what it was.  Hobbyist for over 50 years.  After the Army, my professional career was in industrial HVAC.  Now retired from hitting the clock every day, I still take some HVAC maintenance jobs, but most enjoy doing radio work.  I still listen to sports on AM radio and listen to night programs while restoring old radio sets.  It is a good life!  I am an excellent source of information, service literature, and tubes and parts for vintage automotive radios.
