Presented here is an exquisite original doll by Madame Shiao-Yen for Dorcey Creations. She is hand signed, does not have her original hang tag (we are still looking for it), but I am the original owner. She was purchased in Southern California mid 1980's.
The doll is made of porcelain, it is one piece to about the waist with cloth upper legs and upper arms. The hands have lovely separated fingers, the shoes are molded high heels, painted black. The doll is 24" tall, she wears a breathtaking Southern Belle Organza gown of cream and red. It has a wired hoop skirt, red satin under skirt and the layers of organza dotted with little flowers. Organza bows and roses embellish the neckline. Her blonde hair cascades in a natural style, her face finely sculpted, pink blush, rosy lips, painted and hair lashes accent her blue glass eyes. She comes with her original stand.
Madame Shiao-Yen was known for never making a production line doll, each doll (even within a limited edition) is a hand made and a one-of-a-kind original. She made fabulous costumes dating from the 1700 and 1800's with breathtaking detail. She choose to attach the hair in tresses, then with brush and comb, style the hair with the coiffure that most reflects the personality of the particular doll. The jewelry and accessories were also the creation of Madame Shiao-Yen. Her dolls have been displayed in museums, only time can tell what the rarity of these dolls will push the value to. She resided in Southern California, the dolls were entirely made in the USA except for the porcelain which was imported from Japan. Madame Shio-Yen Bavelles personally made all of the beautifully detailed costumes. These masterpiece dolls made in the 1980's are quite rare as Madame Shioa-Yen suddenly became ill and returned to the Far East.
Although I appreciate and enjoy beautiful design I am not an expert on dolls, please view all photos, they are the major part of the description. Feel free to message me with any questions or information before you purchase. ITEM IS SOLD AS IS, there may be flaws, dust due to age. Aways carefully displayed away from sun and in a smoke free environment. Measurements are approximate.
