    Description

    A
Civil War era newspaper from Leavenworth, Kansas, published by P.H. Hubbell & Co.  This is a single sheet newpaper, printed on paper of approximately 26x40, larger than a typical broadsheet.  As you can see, the front and back are devoted to advertisements.  Actual news is on the inside.  Includes local Civil War and other news as well as the latest telegraph dispatches about the war.
A great glimpse into history whether you are looking for the Civil War aspect, Kansas publishing history, or the entertaining advertisements.  The only documentation I can find about this publisher for this newspaper (Library of Congress) indicates a start date of December 1865, so the fact that this is from December 1864 is interesting in and of itself.
