    Description

Harper’s Weekly October 3 1863 Genuine Original Civil War Era. The front and back covers have come loose but this issue is complete. It has a few edge chips. I am also including as an extra bonus the issue dated July 19 1862 that is missing pages 455 to 458. This full size genuine original was part of a set bound into a hard cover library edition book so it was well preserved. Please see my photos. NOT a reprint, authentic 1863 publication.
Harper's Weekly began publication in 1857 as "a journal of civilization", and contained notable coverage of the US Civil War and New York's Tammany Hall. The first incarnation ceased publication in 1916, and was absorbed by The Independent.
Harper's Weekly was the most popular newspaper during the Civil War, and it featured stunning illustrations, and in depth stories on all the important people and events of the war.
