This center start 78 Cherokee language record was produced for the KVOO radio station in Tulsa Oklahoma.  Frank Long of Tulsa introduces Edward Foreman Van.  Mr. Long states that Mr. Van is the grandson of Captain Joe Van who navigated his own steamboat as far as Webber's Falls.  Mr. Van introduces the speaker who is George McCoy.  My best guess as to date is the late 1920's.  A recording of the Cherokee language from this time period is probably rare, and of value in understanding inflections used in the Cherokee language.  This recording is very clear and the record is in very good condition.  A brief audio from the record, played on an inexpensive 78 record player and transferred to a cell phone, is included in this listing.  I obtained this record in Sand Springs, Oklahoma approximately 35 years ago.  Both Vann and McCoy are listed on the Dawes Rolls.  Applications for the Dawes Rolls were accepted between 1898 and 1907.  George McCoy was listed at age 17.  A notation on the rolls for George McCoy states that he married Lizzie Silk on August 10, 1908.
