Antique Chinese Metal Hand Warmer

Description

This old Chinese hand warmer would have been owned by nobleman or woman, or another other wealthy person. When filled with coal it could be carried around under long sleeves/robes in winter. A remnant of the official Chinese wax antique export seal is on the bottom. Its
bowl/lid/handle are all
formed with a scalloped shape It has a double-strap split handle and perforated top. The diameter is 6 inches, 6.5 at the handle fastenings. The heigt with handles up is also six inches, 4 inches if down. The lid removes and replaces without difficulty.
I like the fact that it shows use in its imperfections. It has three noticeable dents which do not ruin the form. One of the hadle fastenings is skewed a few degrees. The patina is very dark and there is some green oxidaation; I did not clean this in any way and will leave it to you to make that choice.
