    Description

    Welcome to my auction! For your consideration we have here a antique (5) piece grouping of Chinese carved soapstones consisting of (3) vase designs, (1) mountain scene and (1) Goddess all of nice variegated colors having a good surface patination. This group was produced in China for the export market sometime between the 1920s to the 1940s and possibly earlier all being from a recent estate. There is a tall single vase in black with celadon with a flower grouping wraping around the front to each side and is 5.5" High x 3" wide, there are (2) double vase stones one with a central flower and rockery to the bottom in tans and light browns being 4.5" High x 4.5" Wide with the other double vase stone in rust and tan with a flower coming up from the left front side worked over to the top front and measures 5" High x 4" Wide. The last two stone carvings are of a Mountain scene in a celadon color with dark brown base showing nice details, but hard to capture measures 6" Long x 3.5" High and the remaining carving is of a Goddess in a light olive/tan with light brown spots showing rather good details especially from the mid section upwards having nicely done head/face standing 6.5" High. A great opportunity for the collector to purchase a nice group of five soapstone carvings for one reasonable price.

    Condition...All five carvings are in excellent condition with only one which is the taller single vase in black/celadon that has a very small chip to the back top mouth opening otherwise I could not find anything really worth mentioning to the others except for light surface wear from age and handling. A very nice group of antique soapstones for the collector.
