1911A1 COLT REMINGTON RAND CHECKERED SAFETY/ MAINSPRING HSGN / PLUG / GRIPS

Description

The grip safety and mainspring housing need to be re finished or Parkerized. I think the grip safety is a early Rem Rand or a USS. ( the end of the post is not polished like early commercial Colts ).  It is in the best condition other than the lack of finish The checkering is crisp with the WWll machining markings on the back side. I think the mainspring housing is an Ithaca from its` profile. I counted 27 rows plus or minus 1 but, hard to till because of the heavy blasting done to it. I tried to show that in the pics. The blasting has rounded the points of the checkering and shows most on the back side. It would look better re-parked. I think the recoil spring plug is an early Colt commercial one based on the retaining tab and good checkering.  I well point out the grips have been blasted by a fine media which was not pointed out too me when I purchased them. It shows in that they lack the normal sheen ( they could be spayed will a clear coat ) . There are three fractures arround the bottom hole on one and, one fracture in the rib next to #5 on the other grip.
